  2. Quran and Sunnah had stressed the importance of diet and make some teaching about how diet should be managed and used for the best. Unfortunately science had made some smog on the field of nutrition and people are now lost.

FOOD AND SUSTENANCE WERE ESTIMATED AND PREDICTED BY GOD BEFORE THE CREATION OF EARTH AND HEAVENS

The universe where we are living has been created in an accurate balanced state by God (Soubhanah Wa Taala SWT). The creation of the universe took 6 days as it was revealed in Quran : two days for the earth, 2 days for the estimation of the sustenance and 2 days for the heavens. Allah SWT said “And he set on the earth firm mountains standing above its surface, and he blessed the earth and measured therein nourishment for all creators, in four periods in accordance with needs of the seekers” noble Quran (41M10).

The earth is the only planet where life exists in the way we are living and many creatures are living in an ecological balanced system that can not undergoes any disturbance. Unfortunately this system is being degraded everyday and every minute since it has been created. The more the destruction by man occur the less sustenance is available. So, pollution and some destructive life style including industries, wars and nuclear experiences in the sea are now making these sustenance more and more rare.

People are the seekers of sustenance, for food, water, air, clothes and the home they are living in. So, we got these life needs through working in different fields such as agriculture, industries, cattle-rearing, commerce and also from the employments such as teaching, carpentry, tailoring, science, medicine, engineering etc..

One should consider the food he eats and thinks from where it came?

One should think to all what we need for our existence and how these things are rendered available for people. All the food products were created by Allah SWT to meet a need inside the body. So, no health hazards could occur and no danger would menace the people. But all the food products treated and or manipulated by people are potentially dangerous such as genetically modified organisms.

The two components of the ecological system being sea and land are related to each other and may communicate in such a way that without water this relation would never exist. Every cause that leads to the balance corruption in land lead automatically to the same phenomena in the sea. Life exchange in land between animals and vegetables may lay on the way they need each other and the same way in the sea which may contain also animals and vegetables.

Allah SWT had measured the sustenance in two days when he created the universe and it is not acceptable nor thinkable to say that the earth will not be sufficient for the people in the future. In some countries sustenance from land is very limited because of the rain shortness but they withdraw their sustenance from the sea. This situation may exist in the icy regions as well as the desert regions. This is the creation of God and this is a sign of the God’s creation and power. The theory saying that the earth will not be sufficient for people if the demographic pattern is not reduced or stopped is false. No one can predict the sustenance needed by the world in the next future, it should be at least assumed that the food amount produced now trough out the world is widely higher that the populations.

The problem of Population explosion was postulated by Reverend Thomas Robert Malthus who was a priest in the service of the British east Company (1766-1834). Malthus stressed the idea in his book “ the essay on population published in 1798, that the human population would always surpass our ability to produce food by some natural law. According to his view the population increase follow a geometric progression while the food supply is following an arithmetic progression. He added that in two generations there will be more people than the means to feed them. Thus the population problem”.

This theory is not correct for many reasons: More than two centuries now after the publication of the Malthus’s book and we can see an over production in all kinds of food. Population is not really growing fast as it could be understood from the book of Malthus but there is a clear paradox since the Population of Africa is smaller today than it was before. World population has more than doubled since 1950, but food supplies have more than tripled. Other estimates suggest that the world can support 33 billion people.

Accor ding to statistics the world population totals a little bit more than 6 billion of which 25 % lived in the industrialized world and 75 % in the world population of the industrialized world (Europe, America and Japan), consume 80 % of the energy, 85% of wood and 80 % of foods. As for the underdeveloped third world, whose population numbers 4 billion, they only consume 17 % of all the natural resources. The problem is not in the food supply but in the management of the existing food supplies, the best way to achieve an acceptable life for the whole population of the world is to view the world from a humanitarian viewpoint.

The united nations Sponsored a conference in Cairo held from the 5th to 13th September 1994, and called the international conference on population and development.

The former US secretary of state, Henry Kissinger, submitted a detailed report to the national security council about the demographic explosion describing it as a strategic threat of security of the USA. He referred the task of execution of this policy to the IMF and the UN agencies such as world health Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization, so the that the western countries could face the threat posed by this massive human wave of the third world countries who according to him have become unable to meet the needs of their populations.

Allah SWT, the almighty said: and he set on the earth firm mountains standing above its surface, and he blessed the earth and measured therein nourishment for all things, in four periods: in accordance with the needs of the seekers Noble Quran (41:10).

People are afraid about a possible shortness and a lack in food sustenance because of the population explosion as suggested by the conference, and by all the politicians through out the world. This idea is now terrorizing the humanity and it is also giving a reason to non believers in God. The world had not been created by chance but every thing was accurately organized in the right way. Food and sustenance for all the creatures on the earth including the sea were measured and accurately estimated by who can never make a mistake, God SWT. The creation of the earth took 2 days, the measurement took two days and the creation of heavens took two days, the universe was created in six days.

The essential prerequisites in Islam is the belief in the absolute oneness of God. All things in the universe are made by God and identified with God in as much as their being created by him. All things seen and unseen are God’s signs and act as witnesses to his existance and man enjoys a role as being the superior to the rest of the creatures as he has within him the spirit of God.

Another aspect that separates him from the rest of creations is his acceptance of the trust offered by God. Nasr SH wrote: « When the power of his relationship to God is applied without the temperance of responsibility of the trust, man misuses and abuses abilities, potentials and rights given to him by God. Nature has been given to man as a trust and nothing more. His right of domination over it (is) only by virtue of his theomorphic make up, not as a rebel against nature ».

Allah SWT said: And surely We have honored the children of Adam, and We carry them in the land and the sea, and We have given them of the good things, and We have made them to excel by an appropriate excellence over most of those whom We have created. "al Imran" [17.70]

Thus man has the freedom to do what he wills with the power invested to him through these two means. One is his closness to God in spirit and second in acceptance of the trust. Man’s superiority, control and power over nature and the rest of creation was thus a part of this trust. After having taken the responsibility of the trust and instead takes full and destructive advantages of the power conferred upon him, the other side of his superiority takes over.

Man should then respect the nature not because of the existing laws and regulations but because it is among the trust he was given by Allah the creator. This reason becomes more evident and stronger than laws set by humans. Islam is the religion which condemns all wrong acts against all creators in the universe.

Allah said : "Corruption has appeared in the land and the sea on account of what the hands of men have wrought, that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, so that they may return.[30.42] Ar-rum .

We know that when Quran had revealed to the Prophet Mohamed PBOH there was no corruption in the sea, and this is among the signs of Quran. We were told about this corruption in the sea more than 14 centuries and a quarter. There was may be some little corruption (or destruction) in the land at that time but sea were not really concerned with this corruption or destruction. Now, one can say that the corruption or destruction or degradation is more seen in the sea than in the land because of the high polluting materials discarded in the sea, the most dangerous weapons experienced in the sea (nuclear weapons experiences in the pacific ocean) transporters now crossing the sea between the continents and the genetic engineering applied to some kinds of fish, and so on. We use the word "appeared" when it is self evident to see. So quantitatively the corruption is now being greater than ever and it is growing fast. The verse says also "he may make them taste a part of that which they have done". Sustenance from the sea is decreasing and a lot of species have been disappeared. The sea products are being more and more contaminated; so a high dioxine content in the genetically modified fish and sea products has been reported as well as the migration of the small species from the heavy contaminated area to the less contaminated ones. In some oceans fishing is becoming now more and more hard and difficult.

The land is also undergoing a severe destruction by the industries increase through out the world, by the fast and intensive

Islam prohibited all acts leading to the destruction of natural sustenance sources in both land and sea. The Islamic prohibition is not a law nor a regulation to be respected but a way man must think of God his creator and also a way he should obey God. The universe would not have been created by chance, and the accurate organization, of all the phenomena surrounding us and the very balanced state of this universe would tell about who can do that other than Allah SWT. The testimonial occurring phenomena in the nature may constitute also the evidence that nothing can exist by itself but every thing may have been created by a creator who may have the power to do that
